Vintage Luba Mask from Congo
Luba masks are very similar to the kifwebe masks used by the Songye people but have much rounder features. Similar style masks can also be found in Ghana. This mask has incredible detail and rich, dark patina. It measures about 11 inches H x 10 inches and weighs 2.5 pounds. There is some cracking, scuffing and wear and tear throughout with there being a large crack on the back which cannot be seen when the item is hanging on the wall or displayed on a stand. The mask is solid and the cracks add to the character of this exquisite piece. Please inspect photos. It has side holes for hanging, but we suggest purchasing a stand for ideal display. Stand sold separately. Please contact us if you would like to purchase a stand for this piece.
